Gods of Wheat Street Update
With Production wrapping at the end of 2012 on this six one hour indigenous drama created by a Wiradjuri and Bundjalung man, Jon Bell, and Produced by fellow Northern Rivers local, Lois Randall, the weather Gods shone throughout the shoot which took place around Lismore, Casino and Coraki.
Directors, Catriona Mackenzie, Adrian Wills and Wayne Blair lead a talented cast, starring Kelton Pell (The Circuit, Cloudstreet, Redfern Now) as Odin Freeburn, head of the sprawling Freeburn family. He was joined byLisa Flanagan (Look Both Way, Double Trouble), Shari Sebbens who is one of the stars of The Sapphires, Bruce Carter (Here I Am, Redfern Now), Mark Coles-Smith (Beneath Hill 60), dancer Rarriwuy Hick, Miah Madden (The Sapphires), Ursula Yovich (Jindabyne, Australia) and David Field (Wild Boys, City Homicide, The Oyster Farmer, Chopper).
With Post Production continuing into 2013 and working with a beautiful score by composer Jeff Lang, the series was delilvered to the ABC Indigenous Department in May.
With The Gods of Wheat Street featuring in the ABC 2014 Official Launch and on air promotions begun for the year ahead, an exact On Air date is expected to be announced early 2014.
